Reds Caravan to Stop in Muncie

I just heard on the radio this morning that the Reds Caravan will be stopping in Muncie this year on Saturday, January 27. They'll be at Damon's from 3:30-5:30. Scheduled to appear: Todd Coffey, Thom Brennaman, and Red Hot Mama.

    I’ll warn everyone.

I took a pic of some of the dates at RedsFest:

Thanks for the photo, Kitty. The only other Indiana stop it lists is in Indianapolis at Pinheads the very same day 7-9 p.m. I wonder: should I just hop right on the interstate and follow them down? I could annoy Todd Coffey for, like, four hours.

  5. otto says:

If you really want to get on Todd’s good side, get him anything – ANYTHING – with Patrick Stewart on it.

  6. BubbaFan says:

Are you serious? Is he a Trek fan?

  7. coffeybro says:

Todd is definitely a Trek fan. We grew up watching it. He has all of the Star Trek Next Gen DVD’s.

  8. BubbaFan says:

Wow, that’s awesome. I had no idea.

I’m more of a Trek Classic and Voyager fan myself. I like being different. 🙂

Voyager had that episode, “One Small Step.” It takes place (in flashback) during the last World Series, ever. (Baseball being extinct in the Trekiverse.) The Yankees won, beating the “London Kings” in six games.

  9. otto says:

Yeah, just don’t ask him about any new Trek stuff… he gets major stink eye. 😀

  10. Red Hot Mama says:

Welcome coffeybro. It’s a pleasure to have you here.

I was a fan of the Next Generation myself, but Voyager was my real passion. Tom Paris: hubba hubba.

  11. BubbaFan says:

Hey, to some of us, TNG is “new Trek stuff.” 🙂

I wouldn’t kick Tom Paris out of bed for eating crackers. (Alas, he only had eyes for Harry Kim. 😉 Tuvok was one of my favorites, too. Tim Russ was a fan of TOS, and it showed.

IMO, Voyager went downhill when it became “The Seven of Nine” show. The character was interesting, but not so interesting you wanted to see her discover her humanity every gosh darned week. Staple it to her butt so she doesn’t lose it again, already.

Last season I mentioned to him that J.J. Abrams is working on a “classic Trek” prequel and Coffey seemed pretty dismissive of the whole thing.

Voyager reminded me too much of Xena. 😀

  13. coffeybro says:

Well Todd was never a fan of the classic Star Trek. Its mainly next generation for him.

  14. BubbaFan says:

Does Todd bring his Trek DVDs with him on the road, like Hideki Matsui and his suitcase full of pr0n?

  15. Red Hot Mama says:

I don’t think it’s fair to compare TNG to porn. Star Trek is much more erotic.

    Ooh, Wesley!

My dad and I met Ryan in St. Louis back in ’04. If you’re not familiar with the team hotel in St. Louis, it’s connected to Union Station, or whatever. It’s a former train station turned mall. Of the several restuarants there, there’s a hooters on the 3rd floor. Guess where we ate. Guess where the Reds ate. So we sit down at the bar and it turns out the guy to the left of us is Ryan Freel. I, being 15 at the time, am out getting autographs. My dad stays and talks with Freel, who on the way down to St. Louis, we had listened to the game where he had 5 hits against Cleveland. And ever since then, we’ve been good friends with him. He’s the nicest guy you’ll ever meet (if you haven’t met Sean Casey). My dad takes pictures at games with his Nikon D70. He gives the players copies of his pictures. They’re pretty awesome pictures. I know Freel has a bunch on the wall at his home.

  17. Red Hot Mama says:

I’ve been to that hotel; we stayed there when we met up with Bellyscratcher to talk smack in person. Nice place, but I never made it up to the Hooters. I’ll have to check that out next time.

Speaking of, how was a 15-year old sitting at the bar?

You sound like a well-connected fella. Glad to have you here. 😀
