Reds Vs. Indians 3/9
Woo-hoo! My turn to start a game thread. Sweet.
The lineups, as always, provided by C.
Indians
Sizemore CF
Francisco RF
Dellucci LF
Garko 1B
Blake 3B
Shoppach C
Rouse 2B
Rivas SS
Adam Miller P
Reds
Freel CF
Hamilton RF
Encarnacion 3B
Dunn LF
Conine 1B
Gonzalez SS
Ross C
Castro
Arroyo P
Brandon Phillips was originally going to be playing 2b, but was a late scratch. Even so, this is a lineup we might have to get used to during the season this year.
It looks like Steve Stewart will be broadcasting this game for MLB audio only. 😉
Although it’s only updated once an inning, the Gameday is also available.
I check RHM, no game thread. Went to get the line-ups and when I came back, you’d come through for me Zeldink. Thx.
Hey, did you see that the CTS came through with the devil icon for me? “Angry” and “pray” look identical for me, though, so something’s up with that. Probably need to reload.
Yep, refresh did it. Though the new “angry” looks sort of like a sensei
An angry sensei. Hmm. That doesn’t make sense. That mouth does look a lot like a moustache.
Oh well. It looks more angry than the praying guy.
>:-) Hell-O!
Maybe I should ask readers to submit their own smileys. Then we’d have personalized emoticons!
Arroyo strikes out Sizemore to start the game.. and then Ross throws out Francisco on a stolen base attempt after a base hit. Next batter flies out to Hamilton.
The first half of the inning is done. One strikeout for Arroyo and a thrown out stealing for Ross.
So we might see Dustin Hermanson this game… that should be interesting.
Majewski still isn’t pitching but he’s making girl scouts happy by buying their cookies in bulk. That’s a nice story… really touching. Makes you hate Majewski just a tad bit less.
Hamilton flies out. Not sure what Freel did, but he was retired as well. Now its Encarnacion.
Edwin grounds out. 1st inning is over, no score.
Freel grounded out to 3B.
Garko is baffled by two strikes before grounding out to Encarnacion.
Full count to Casey Blake….
High pop up, out of play.
Called strike 3 on a beaking ball.
Swing and a miss, strike 3 on a slow breaking ball.
Nice to see Arroyo having some control over his breaking ball. As long as he has that, he’ll be solid all year.
Wow. It’s working well today. 3 Ks in two innings.
Base hit for Dunn to RF.
4-6-3 double play. I already hate Conine.
Majewski’s buying girl scout cookies in bulk? I guess that’s OK, so long as he doesn’t put on 20 pounds from it. Those things are addictive!
Arroyo was supposed to go 3, but left after 2. He’s still got the flu. I guess he really was sick on Sunday.
Apparently he bought $77 worth and he’s sharing them with the guys in the clubhouse.
I didn’t even notice that Conine was playing. He must be feeling better then?
Well, not *that* much better, apparently.
I don’t know, Steve Stewart said only 2 innings… he said last inning it would be his last. I think he rolled pretty easily but this is his first outing. All the pitchers pitched 2 innings their first outing. I don’t think the “simulated game” last week counted in terms of his conditioning.
Oh man, that’s no good. Keep the cookies away from those guys. Isn’t it bad enough that they eat the mayonnaise-and-banana sandwhiches??
Someone buy $77 worth of leafy greens for those fellas. Rock the fiber.
He could also still be hung over. 😀
Conine’s a joke. We have like 9 good outfielders and only 1 first baseman who can only hit right handed pitching.
Before the game, they said he’d go 3, if he felt up to it. I guess he didn’t feel up to it.
Bailey not in yet. It’s Hermanson.
Another reason to whip out the leafy greens. That would help clean him out.
According to C. Trent: Arroyo wanted to get in and out for family
Well that was an easy inning for Hermanson.
Castro gets a 1 out single. Chad Moeller pinch hitting for Hermanson.
Speaking of Girl Scout cookies, that reminds me that I brought some thin mints with me in my lunch today. Yummy.
This at-bat is taking forever. Full count to Moeller.
Popped out of play.
Line out to left.
Bunt by Freel, thrown out at 1B … it went right to the pitcher.
David Weathers pitching.
And Deno’s in the game.
Dang it, home run for Ben Francisco.
Freel out of the game. hamilton shifts to CF and Denorfia playing RF.
Sizemore popped out.
Home run by Francisco. 1-0 Indians.
Can someone give me the inning? This thread is the only way I’m following the game, and even it isn’t getting my full attention (darn working at work!)
Deno snags one just short of the warning track.
middle of the 4th inning…
Geez Votto is left handed too, so that doesn’t even solve the platoon situation if he gets called up (or makes the roster). We are stuck with Conine or Bellhorn unless a trade is made.
thx 😉
I hate to hear that the Reds are behind, but it’s looking less grisly than yesterday’s game.
hamilton with a base hit thru the right side.
Edwin with a basehit misplayed by Francisco in RF, so runners now at 2nd and 3rd… with Dunner coming up.
Well, that’s one way not to strike out.
Dunn was just hit by a pitch to load the bases.
“A Wily Mo type day for Francisco..”
Dunn got hit by pitch. Conine with the bases load.
Crosby in to run for Dunn. i don’t think Dunn is hurt, he just is done for the day with that final at bat.
Conine versus a lefty… this is why he is here…
Fly ball… way back…. off the wall!
2 run double! OK, he is outta the doghouse…for now. Gil in to run for Jeff.
2-run double to left for Conine! Nice.
By the way, BUBBA ALERT!!!! He pinch-ran for Dunn and now stands on third.
No outs in the bottom of the fourth. Let’s get some more!
