Game Thread: Reds versus Brewers
Woo-hoo! I'm home and available for a game thread! It feels like it's been forever.
C. Trent's got the line-ups:
Brewers
Weeks 2B
Hardy SS
Fielder 1B
Hall CF
Estrada C
Mench LF
Hart RF
Graffanino 3B
Capuano P
Reds
Ryan Freel
Brandon Phillps
Adam Dunn
Jeff Conine
Ken Griffey, Jr.
Edwin Encarnación
Juan Castro
David Ross
Eric Milton
We're two outs in and Milton hasn't given up a run yet. Freel had a bad-ass play.
Aw, c’mon Griff. You can’t be playing for the Brewers out there!
Yippee! Phillips is aboard. 😉
Nice to see Dunner back in the line-up. I hope those back spasms don’t hinder him.
Funny to see Phillips being such a pest on the basepaths. Good thing he did that last game!
Sliding catch robs Conine of a hit to end the inning. But the boys are rolling!
Finally, it looks like I’ll write a comment that doesn’t include exclamation points. After giving my kid a bath and putting away the groceries, the Reds are down 2-0.
Just two runs given up in three innings, and I know that one of those is unearned. Not too bad by Milton’s standards.
Ah, they just said the second run was a solo shot by Rickie Weeks. Bah.
This is exactly what you heard in our house as Phillips was running to first:
GO GO GO GO IT’S SLOW GO GET THERE GO GET IT GO GO GO…awwww
where the blazins is our offense ??
Capuano has thrown about 20 pitches.
Milton has thrown over 70.
Washington?
Freel seems atypically clean today.
Sorry, I don’t think we have an offense against lefties. 😛
Sounds about right. At least the multitudinous bullpen will get in their pitches.
Yes. The more pitches Milton throws early, the quicker better pitching gets in the game.
Oh, and Milton sucks.
My son was singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame, which I thought was about the cutest thing ever until just now when he started singing the JTM jingle.
Nice hit, Dunner!
Double Dunn !!!
Dunn in the rundown gets Conine to second. Better than nothin’, I reckon. And Griffey moves him to third.
C’mon EdE.
Does any one else miss Aurillia ??
I definitely have no Miller High Life privileges, since my first thought when I hear “$11.50 for a hamburger” is “maybe it’s wagyu beef.” If it’s Kobe, that would actually be a good deal.
Which is probably the point, huh?
Amen, brother. Aurilia was a great guy to have around. Though Conine’s doing a better job of filling in than I expected, he can’t quite time Richie’s place.
Hey, Milton’s through five! I guess David Ross is the bomb after all.
So far, Conine is a reasonable substitute for Aurilia:
Aurilia: .324 .375 .405
Conine: .333 .385 .625
Who knows if he’ll be able to keep it up, though.
I don’t understand why the people on the Scott’s Turfbuilder commercial call them “bear spots.” They’re clearly “dog spots.” 😛
Well, Richie was on the podcast; Conine hasn’t filled in that way yet.
Hey, the Reds are at Milwaukee. I wondered why the crowd seemed so pro-Red, but I figured that just more Reds fans had gone up than Brewers fans went to the game.
I should fix the title.
David Ross has a stance just like a guy I play Special Olympics softball with. Better than having a stance like mine, though, I reckon.
Fielder gets a double into right field. C’mon Milton, let’s not let this get out of hand.
Oh, Milton’s being replaced. That makes sense, given the pitch count. Go Santos!
Conine is doing well, but I miss the fact that we’ve got nobody to spell a slumping Edwin.
Wow, two rundowns in one game. The Reds were on the knocking-off-the-lead-runner side of it this time, though. And the runner didn’t even advance to second.
Estrada gets a double; good thing that lead runner was cut down!
Where *are* his sunglasses? 😎
Boo! What is this garbagio, Santos??
%^$%^#@#$%^$#$%@%$#
Come on, Freel. Someone’s got to get this going.
Meanwhile, Love Shack is melting down on the mound for Louisville. Single, walk, triple, double. And he’s not out of the inning yet.
Yeah buddy! If Griffey’s going to play for the Brewers, it’s only fair that Hardy plays for the Reds.
Dude, they’re going the re-play of the error and Thom and Brantley can’t shut up about how bad they think Freel is.
They need to show up. Here’s Phillips with a double!
Shack sounds like he’s pitching for the cycle.
Freel’s dirty now; you know things are turning around.
No cycle. Shack is out now…but not because he got the third out. Rick Sweet gave him the hook. Wilkerson is in.
OH YEAH! WOO HOO!!
Sacks full of Reds !!
This would be a great situation for Aurilia…is Conine up for the challenge?
Bummer about Shack, but I guess everyone has those outings sometimes.
WHAT?? Infield fly my ass!
Narron’s about to get the boot, if he’s any good.
Conine has hit eight salamis in his career.
Of course, it’s a very long career.
I hope that ump is frickin’ fined. Infield flies don’t land in the outfield, moron.
EDEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
EE !!!
How impressed are you with the Brewers’ effort? Man, it’s nice to be on this side of the poor fielding for a change.
We should still be batting…
Stupid Ump !!
Wow. That was an impressively bad call. So much for a “home field advantage.”
That was great to see EdE come through, though. It would be nice for the offense to wake up. Of course, it now appears that the bullpen is going south. Great timing, guys.
Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow. Those grand slams can undo crappy fielding sometimes, I reckon.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!
I know the bases were loaded, but they should have walked Bill Hall.
