Game Thread!! Reds versus Astros
Yippee! It's Internet connectivity!!
The connection wasn't supposed to be live until Saturday, in fact, we got an automated telephone call to that effect just as the Crack Technical Staff was establishing the link. Hey, I'm not complaining.
Nor can I complain about the game. Our boys are up 3-1 on the Astros in the top of the third, and Narron's been ejected.
I don't expect anyone to be around to comment, but I'll happily talk to myself for a while.
All right, Astros botch the double-play and the bases are loaded for our Redlegs. It sure is nice to see a team struggling more than the Reds for a change.
So I’m writing from my new living room. Our new house is bigger than our old one, plus we left some of our crapier furniture in the old place to make it look more livable to potential buyers, so the net effect is that this new place feels pretty freakin’ empty. It actually echoes a little bit in here.
Another issue is our lack of televisions. There’s really space to have three televisions in this house, but we have only two. So now that I’ve moved up to my bedroom (I have to be on the same floor as my son after he goes to bed or he gets scared), I have to watch the game on the television that we got for the car a few years ago when we were making a road trip to New York.
It’s got a massive 9″ screen, and from the bed where I’m sitting, I can’t quite make out the score. It’s sort of like sitting in the nosebleed seats.
Man, I’ve got a *pile* of e-mails to dig through almost as big as the pile of crap in my front room. But–ooh!–buried treasure! I must post this right away.
Here we are in the top of the Sth. At least I assume it’s the top of the Sth, since the tiny little guys batting are wearing a shade of gray. And I think that our team has a slightly fatter squiggle of a score than the other team, so that can only be good, right?
But back to my problems. Let me tell you something about my cat. She’s horrible. I got her when I was 16 and I had no intention of making a lifelong pet commitment at that time, and yet she just won’t die. She’s got to be in constant physical contact with someone at all times, and she sheds like crazy. She also drools, and if a molecule of the stuff touches my skin I break out in hives.
So we got a new dining room table for our move (the old one looked like it had grown up in a frat house) with upholstered chairs. Since Rita (the cat) claws stuff, we require her to stay in the basement (away from the new table) when we’re not at home. The treat the last two days that’s greeted us when we’ve returned from the office is to find that she’s peed on the beanbag chair that serves as seating in the basement (remember: we haven’t remotely furnished the place). I don’t know if it’s the stress or whether she’s protesting or maybe old age has just gotten to her. Whatever it is, I find myself seriously no longer wanting a pet.
Anyway, if you know anyone who’s in the market for a very affectionate cat with only a slight slobbering problem, send them my way.
Wish I got Reds games on TV, you lucky sonofagun…
Just noticed that the basement dwelling Reds don’t have it as bad off as some of the other last place teams in baseball. The Reds are nine games back, which is less than every other division last place team except the NL West’s Giants at five and half.
So, I guess that’s something, right? Right?
Welcome back! And an internet connection *before* the posted time? That sounds like something that defies the laws of physics.
Hi, stjoan. Yeah, I know I’m lucky to get them at all, tiny though the picture is. It’s been a pretty good game, too. A very nice change of pace.
Hi, Zeldink. 😉
That Norris Hopper is having a hell of a night, huh? Awesome to see.
Except for that weird play at third. At least, I think it was him who got thrown out and not who scored the run.
At least the team is winning.
I thought it was Hopper that scored the run and Gonzalez who was thrown out.
Of course, they all look like smurfs from here, so what do I know?
Uh-oh, the Astros fans are cheering. That can’t be good.
Despite the MUCH shorter commute, I’m still freakin’ tired. I think it’s all the back-breaking labor or something. In any event, if I drift off, I hope you’ll forgive me. And if I roll over and the laptop falls off my belly and onto the floor, I hope that the CTS will forgive me.
You should move more often. It propelled the Reds to their first winning series in ages. 😀
OMG, I didn’t really just wake up to find our boys still in the lead?
And that’s it. Yay!
