The Reds have made round two of cuts today. To recap, on Monday they:
- Sent LHP Phil Dumatrait to AAA Louisville
- Sent OF Chris Dickerson and RHP Calvin Medlock to AA Chattanooga
- Reassigned LHP Jason Kershner and RHP Tom Shearn to minor league camp
Today they:
- Sent 1B Joey Votto to AAA Louisville
- Reassigned RHP Homer Bailey, LHP Michael Gosling, C Dan Conway, C Ryan Hannigan to minor league camp
- Released RHP Kerry Ligtenberg and RHP Brian Meadows outright to give them a chance to catch on elsewhere
I guess that means no more Brian Fellow references.

We have no idea what the lineup is, because C. Trent hasn't given us an update since the early game. We do know that Bobby Livingston is starting for the Reds and trying to keep himself in the running for the #5 spot in the rotation, which seems to be Belisle's to lose at this point.

Yikes! That's no kind of good line score to tune in for while taking a break at work.
Here's the line-up:
Norris Hopper CF
Alex Gonzalez SS
Brandon Phillips 2B
Jeff Conine 1B
Chris Denorfia LF
Jerry Gil 3B
Dewayne Wise RF
Chad Moeller C
Kirk Saarloos P
Looks like Saarloos gave up five of those runs in the first four innings, and Mike Stanton provided four more in the fifth. Paul Wilson allowed the remaining four in the two and two-thirds innings starting in the sixth and ending most of the way through the eighth.
As the CTS said, Saarloos' line happens to everyone occasionally, but what the heck, Stanton? And, does this improve Matt Belisle's shot at making the rotation?
I hope the team that plays at 7 tonight plans to do a little better.

With reports of Mark Prior's fastball reaching the mid-80's on a good day, I thought it would be a good time to check out the current Cubs news.
And here's what I found. Apparently, Prior is performing so poorly that there's talk of him spending time in minor league camp to bolster his confidence. Ouch.
Goatriders had a great take on that:
Hey, I'm just surprised they didn't try this sooner. I know that whenever my confidence is shaky, going to the local middle school and beating up on some 13-year-olds always helps me feel better about myself.
So Mark Prior again won't help the Cubs this year.
The team is better than last year, but I don't see them being in the competition for the Central title. Nope. It's Spring enough that I'm expecting that to be a bitter fight between Cincinnati, Houston, and St. Louis.
