I’m inordinately sad to see Cairo in the line-up again. 🙁 I hope the rest of the team can cheer me up. Nick Lachey on the Cincinnati Bell commercial isn’t hurting, either.
After a morning of yardwork, I’m coming up short on sarcastic comments about the Cards. Need to get the snarky juices flowing. How about this:
Yo ho, Arroyo is about to put forth some likely pitches now!
Maybe beer will help.
Brandon Phillips singles to left with two outs in the top of the first. I missed those two outs because I dropped my beer on my foot and needed to hobble about, sopping it up.
Now I have a bottle 20% beer and 80% beer foam. And a lump coming up on my foot.
BP goes first to third on Scott Rolen’s not-quite-a-double.
The crowd was nice to Rolen; I thought they were dicks to him last time the Reds came to town. Maybe I misunderstood.
I should have said “20% flat beer”. It wasn’t great beer to begin with: Blue Moon in a bottle.
Jonny Gomes gets a couple RBI with a base-clearing single. Love that guy.
Heard someone in the stands at GABP say Gomes reminded him of Freel, and I’m glad to know I’m not the only one. I’m also glad that Gomes isn’t quite as self-destructive as Freel.
Bruce flies out to left…left is getting a lot of action so far.
It’s good to see 2/3 of the line-up gets to the plate in the first. They’ve seen this pitcher before, which seems to make a big difference for this line-up.
Lopez struck out. One batter, one K for Arroyo.
Ludwick singles to right center. Nice to see another section of the outfield get some action.
I’m so glad to have Chris and Thom broadcasting today. Thom used to be painful to listen to, but he’s really picked up his game.
I don’t know whether Paul Keels will ever be able to pick up his game. I’m afraid he might be dead inside.
Arroyo unintentionally intentionally walks Pujols. Personally I woulda hit him.
Shouldn’t Holliday be good since they’re playing on a holiday?
Why is he hitting after Pujols if he’s been sucking? He certainly sucked just then; two aboard and popped out to second.
Freese ends the inning. So far so good 🙂
Stubbsey out on strikes. So sad how often that is said.
Hernandez walks on four pitches. I wouldn’t be so eager to get to Arroyo if it were me.
Arroyo out on strikes?? Shows what I know.
Cabrera out on strikes to end the inning. Bottom of the second: time to clean the litter.
I mean that literally. The cat’s litter hasn’t been cleaned in a week, and she’s bitching about it.
Litter cleaned and the cat’s dish filled with Sardines and Mackerel so as to dirty it up again.
Looks like a run scored. I’m glad to see it’s limited to that. Want to keep the lead in case this game gets rained out.
Cairo’s aboard! He’s no Votto, but he’s having a helluva week.
Keep it going, BP.
BP advances the runner with a pitiful little squiggle toward first base.
Joey Votto has the same initials as Javier Valentí. Not middle initials though.
These are the things I think about.
Rolen advances Cairo to third. An out per base for the lead runner is pretty expensive. I hope Gomes is a little more economical.
Intentional walk??? Of GOMES?? What parallel universe have I slid into?
Drat, Bruce did not make them pay for their insolence. The bill continues to mount!
Pujols is aboard with two outs in the bottom of the third.
It just occurred to me that this broadcast is unlikely to mention Jim Edmonds at all. Unless Chris brings him up in honor of George’s retirement.
Despite Rolen ignoring Pujols on his way to third, the inning is over with no harm done.
The wind is even blowing up here in Indy. Could be a heckuva storm.
Tarp going on the field before a drop of rain falls. If the storm doesn’t come, Albert Pujols will kick its ass.
They’re saying an hour delay and FSNO has even gone to alternate programming.
I suppose I should read some homework. Lots of Business Law reading to catch up on.
Back on the field! And the starting pitchers are staying in. This ought to be interesting.
I think it’s weird that it rained at the same time and for the same duration in Indy as it did in St. Louis.
Do you feel like you are talking to yourself?? 😀
Stubbs reaches safely thanks to a bad throw by Freese. He almost got his booty walked. Garcia doesn’t seem to have it back yet.
Hi, Rocktman. Yeah, I suppose so. But *someone* needs to record this stuff. For the kids.
Yippee!! Arroyo’s got a hit! Stubbsy at third.
Heck yeah. Heck YEAH, Cabrera! Brings in Stubbs to extend the lead.
Thom: “How many big hits has Cabrera had this season?”
Chris: “The question is, how many does he have left?”
Is Chris as skeptical of Cabrera’s year as I am?
Oh, and the inning’s over. Cairo GIDP.
Arroyo’s adjusting better to coming back into the game than his opponent. So far at least. I mean, Garcia’s coming to the plate. Anything could happen with two outs.
See?? Garcia walked!
Flopez steps in. Focus, Bronson.
I always get scared when the Reds face a lefty, especially one they haven’t seen much. They tend to make them look like Cy Young.
Flopez singles to right field, and Bruce missed the chance to throw out Garcia.
C’mon, Arroyo. Gotta get out Ludwick.
Really *any* pitcher they haven’t seen, but leftys for sure.
Dammit, Arroyo, pull your head out of your ass. And plunk Pujols.
You want to listen to Pujols whine, don’t you??
Holliday knocks in the go-ahead run. This inning looked so good for a minute.
I *love* to hear Pujols complain. Bitching and moaning makes him sound so manly.
Arroyo has thrown a lot of pitches today, not a good sign.
CTS: “Is it gone?”
Me: “Naw, he’s got it, he’s got it, has he got it? he’s got it!”
Whew.
Yeah, I’m afraid Goodroyo might have been scared off by the storm. Don’t want Badroyo.
BP leads off the top of the fifth with a grounder in the hole. Nice start 🙂
My, that Garcia has quite a strong jaw.
Rolen Ks. Bummerooni. Take it to ’em Gomes!
Gomes flies out to LF and Phillips is nearly doubled off first base. I look forward to making fun of Pujols for complaining about that later. I expect him to say that the umpire should respect his judgment because he is the best.
Bruce’s lack of hits make me sad.
Bottom of the sixth.
Phillips’ lack of awareness on the bases should make you sad too.
I’m just a sad Manda all around right now. I miss Votto.
Wow, Molina is slow. I wonder if I could beat him in a foot race.
He’s out at first, btw, though they couldn’t turn the DP. Allowing another run to score on Schumaker’s base hit. Sigh.
Well, according to Fay, he was hitting well at batting practice today. He might be back tomorrow.
Yeah, I saw that. I’m terribly afraid he’s going to come back rusty, but seeing his name in the line-up will give me a thrill of joy in any event.
Nick Lachey just kicks around Cincy sometimes, doesn’t he? I can easily imagine just running into him at the Rock Bottom Brewery sometime.
