ST Game 19: Reds 6, Braves 10

The Braves handed the half of the squad that made the trip to Lake Buena Vista this afternoon a moderately less humiliating defeat than the other half suffered at the hands of the Pirates. For crying out loud people: the Reds hardly have one fieldable team: you can't really expect them to put together two.
Dave Williams got the start and allowed eight runs, all earned, on 10 hits through 3 1/3 innings of work.
Jake Robbins held the Braves scoreless despite two hits during his 2/3 of an inning. Todd Coffey and Ryan Wagner each also contributed scoreless innings. Brian Shackelford gave up the other two runs on two hits in two innings.
Dewayne Wise hit yet another home run and contributed two of the Reds RBI today. Encarnació also contributed two. Chris Denorfia and Andy Abad each contributed one.
The loss brings the Reds' record to 10-8. Tomorrow the Reds host the Phillies in Sarasota at 1:05 p.m.
If any of the spare outfielder types have earned a spot on the roster based on his performance in ST at this point, I’d say it is Dewayne Wise.
I have heard, but have been unable to confirm officially, that Tuffy Rhodes got released today. We’ve pretty much been told that Heartthrob is going to go to Louisville so he can play every day. So it’s down to Wise, McCracken, and a few others, but if any of ’em has a chance to crack the roster, Wise has to be near the top of the list.
I am deeply concerned about any pitching staff that allows 25 runs in two games, especially in slit-squad games where half the opposing hitters are minor-leaguers or non-roster invitees. The Reds have the makings of a pretty good bullpen this year, although they lack a closer, but with the starting rotation the way it’s shapong up the Reds will be six runs down before the releivers get into a game. 🙁
