Reds Ripe To Trade an Outfielder?

While I was stirring up trouble over at Bleed Cubbie Blue, one of the posters brought this link at MLB trade rumors to my attention. It cites a story in Newsday and the fact that Adam Dunn started in left field the other day as evidence that the Reds are ready to trade an outfielder.
Now, just because I said the same thing back when the Reds signed Hatteberg doesn't mean I'm convinced now. Who's even offering the kind of pitching that the Reds want? I tend to think that if decent pitching were available for the minor cost of one Reds slugger, we'd have it by now.
Still, I'd be pretty thrilled if there were someone awesome we could get for one of our outfielders. I'm all for giving the Heartthrob a chance.
I don’t think Narron is that sneaky. He simply wanted to give Hatteberg a start… I believe Dunner will still get substantial OF time this year. I really really doubt a trade is in the works. I have come to accept that the trade rumors will never cease, especially because we have a surplus of power hitters… but unless a good deal comes along I don’t see it happening.
Incidentally I still cannot log into my blog at mlblogs.com — so I am canceling it. I invested a lot of time and feel kind of betrayed but c’est la vie.
I don’t see much of a big deal bout it. All three outfielders have substantial injury histories and Griffey’s gonna need to take some days off. When that happens, I think we’re more likely to see Dunn playing the outfield and Hatteberg starting at 1st than Deno/McCracksuck playing in the outfield.
