Quoting the AP

“The San Diego Padres found the bullpen help they were seeking, acquiring right-hander Scott Williamson on Saturday from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for two minor league pitchers.

The Cubs received Class-A pitchers Fabian Jimenez and Joel Santo in the deal. The Padres are still looking for a third baseman before the trading deadline. ”

I thought you needed to trade starters to get bull pen help……

    Spot on, Redsfan68. You’ll hear much the same sentiment in this week’s podcast, probably tomorrow. For as tight as the market for middle relievers is this season, no one else seems to have paid such a high price as the Reds. And that includes the Reds (for Eddie Guardado).

    As for the the Padres looking for a third baseman, I’m sure Joe Randa is available.
