Gary Majewski just came into the game with Soriano on second to finish out the sixth inning without allowing a run.
I'm loving this game. I so want the Cubs to lose. Even more than I want the Reds to win, which is quite a lot.
Tonight's game is being played under protest, following the umpires allowing Piniella to make a double-switch even though he did not signal the switch before crossing the foul line. Sounds thrilling. What will the prize be if the Reds get the ruling? Surely they can't be awarded a run or anything of that sort. Perhaps a lovely gift basket featuring a new toaster or an electric blanket?

Jorge “you can’t do that” Cantu was just struck out for by Joey Votto and David Ross hit into the double play to end the top of the seventh inning.

And the Reds are through the eighth. Yippee!
I remember when the eighth was cursed. The CTS hypothesizes that it was because Narron would never let the young guys try their hand, even when the old guys were sucking. He may be on to something there. I’m just glad to see a 1-2-3 inning.

The five infielder thing again? It worked once. It cannot again. Especially pulling Hopper out of the outfield. Who the hell is going to catch a fly ball??
Do they practice this ridiculous layout? What do they do if it’s hit to shallow but straightaway center? Does Hopper go out after it?

Weathers did it again. He’ll be Stanton next year… I’d rather see Burton as our closer.
And I’m agree with you on this point, this was the game catching Ross.

Alas, Weathers has been the only part of the bullpen that hasn’t been a complete cluster this season. You know you’re bullpen isn’t in good shape when David Weathers is your shining star. Just imagine how much better off if he were performing the same but playing the role of a mediocre veteran helping to mold all the real shining stars.
