Bubba Crosby Strikes a Pose
Before the game, the photographer had a couple of the players out to take some of those posed pictures that they use on the big board when the player comes up to bat. One of those was Bubba Crosby.
Since the photographer was taking advantage of these poses, the CTS, acting as Crack Photography Staff, figured we might as well get them as well.
This one will be very intimidating on the big board when he's at the bat.
It's like he was posing just for us. Except for the fact that he's looking down a little bit.
Considering they were taking these photos yesterday, it was surprising to find out later that he'd been outrighted to Louisville. I would imagine, though, that if he stays with the organization that they know they'll be using them before too long.
My daughter says thanks for the Bubba pictures. She is bummed that he has to go to Louisville.
Great autographs from the big guys! That was nice of Adam to finally sign. He doesn’t sign much.
If you go in the morning before the games, you should go back on the practice fields. They start working out at 9am. You really can get a close up of the players working out and taking batting practice. You can also see lots of players hoping to make it someday.
Have fun in Sarasota!
Wow, thanks. I didn’t think you’d be able to get any photos of Bubba, all things considered. 🙂
I thought for sure he had played well enough to make the team.
But never underestimate the ability of the Krivsky-Narron brain trust to do the exact opposite of what is rational.
I think he did play well enough to make the team. But with lefty Josh Hamilton a Rule 5, Bubba really didn’t have a chance. They weren’t going to carry four lefty outfielders. And I can certainly understand wanting to keep Hamilton; he’s younger, his upside is huge, and he’s played extremely well.
It’s looking like Moeller is going to get the last roster spot, anyway. Burton has pitched so well that I think they’ll try to keep him. Which means they aren’t going to go with 11 pitchers to carry another position player.
I think the Reds treated Bubba pretty well. They let him go as soon as it was clear Griffey would be ready by opening day, to give him a chance to latch on with another team. And though they apparently decided not to play him once they put him on the waiver wire, they did give him that one pinch-hit at-bat against the Yankees. I know Yankees fans appreciated that.
How do you go back to the practice fields, nm7? Do you mean standing at the fence, or is there actually a way to get in there?
Travelling with a 5-year old without much attention span for baseball, I can’t really get there at 9 and hang out all morning, but it’d be cool to check out once or twice.
I’m glad we got the Bubba photos while we had a chance. We’ll be on the lookout for more opportunities.
Any word yet, BubbaFan, on whether he’s going to stick around in Louisville?
No word yet on what Bubba’s planning to do. Though he apparently went in early Sunday morning to clean out his locker.
He has until Tuesday at 3:30pm to make his decision. I imagine he’ll take the whole 72 hours, just in case a slot opens up.
The Dodgers might need a spare outfielder. Repko blew out his hamstring so bad he’s likely out for the season. Would be funny if he ended up back there; the Dodgers are the team that drafted Bubba.
I hope he sticks with the Reds organization. He would definitely come up sooner than later, and-even more importantly, to me anyway–if he heads elsewhere, RHM will lose her fifth-most prolific commenter of all time!
Yikes! Am I really that verbose?
That’s pretty bad, since I only starting coming here in November.
When you pull in the parking lot at Ed Smith Stadium, the practice fields are directly behind the stadium. There is a gate that was halfway open when I was there. You can walk right on back through there. If any of the men that work the parking lot are there, you can just ask them. They were very helpful on our first day. They explained that the guys in the grey pants were in the minors and the guys in the pinstripes are still on the roster. Some will be changing pants this week though! The minor league teams should have games back on those fields this week too. Hope this helps!
B/F, you’re up to fourth now. But you’re a solid 300 behind the number three commenter. Verbosity is not a bad thing.
Thanks for the info nm7. If we get in the mood for an adventure on a day when the kid is feeling well-behaved, we’ll have to check it out.
And Trent reports that Bubba and Bellhorn are Bats now. They report to minor league camp tomorrow morning.
Sweet! I mean, I am glad we still have Bubba. I would have hated to see him go to the Cards.
I can’t believe the Cards didn’t take him. They took Snax Hancock, and Bubba’s got much more to offer in an area they’re weak. Their loss!
Shawn thought the Nationals would take Bubba. I’m not sure whether to be relieved or insulted that they didn’t…
