Reds vs. Pirates 3/11
Eric Milton will make his third start of the spring today as the Reds host the Pirates in Sarasota. Coming off a come-from-behind win against the Indians last night, the Reds ought to be in a good state of mind to deal with the Buccos.
Discuss.
Well I got burned by daylight savings time, even though Marty warned us yesterday. I didn’t realize this was a new date for DST so I expected my computer to update automatically but it didn’t happen.
Anyhow 1st inning just ended and Milton has been given a 4-0 lead. He looked good and the Pirates pitcher looked very bad. The Reds batted around.
AGON just made a great play. Wish I could see it instead of hear it.
I had to work this morning. Just got out.
One of my coworkers came in and immediately ragged on me for signing in at 8am. It was 7am! Er, no it wasn’t. She had no clue DST was this weekend.
Milton didn’t like our lead so he promptly squandered it….
And Ligtenberg gives up the tying run. Though Bay is a damned good hitter.
I’m watching the Yankees game while listening to the Reds game. Cleveland is at Legends Field.
Rough game for A-Rod. Someone hit a liner off him. It bounced off him and Jeter caught it, making the play. Then A-Rod got HBP.
If the yanks would pay 2/3rd of his salary, I’d love to have A-ROD on our team
Freel scores on double play attempt by Bucks 5-4 Reds
And the Reds pull ahead, 5-4. Freel just beats the throw to the plate. Pirates announcers don’t think he beat it.
Gil gets RBI Fielders Choice
6-4
then promply gets picked off first
I think I read an article yesterday that said they thought baserunning was the part of the game that Gil most needed to work on.
Coffey strikes out the side. Impressive.
Our new closer?
They tried Coffey at closer last year and the pressure was too much for him.. but he may get another shot eventually.
Coffey’s only 26 and a sweet ol’ Southern boy. Maybe he’ll get jaded enough to close out games before too long.
Hi, everyone!
Salmon not doing so often, then. He’s being replaced. Marty said that Milton was replaced in the middle of the third, too. I missed that part, but I can believe it.
You know, I wouldn’t mind bumping Milton down the totem pole if anyone could demonstrate that they’d be a better #3 than him.
Hi, RHM! How was the party?
I think Salmon is headed for Louisville…
Love Shack on the mound!
“Salmon not doing so often”?? What the heck did that mean? I’m clearly not all well, yet.
The party was OK. There’s never quite enough room to sit, and I didn’t want to touch any of the kids with this sickness I still have, but the cake was good and the company was fine.
Before the party we went to play lazer tag. I was too sick to participate, but I’m looking forward to next time. Always fun to shoot your brothers!
Arrghhh. Belhorn. He’s not looking nearly as good as he was in the first week.
Damn, after Bellhorn boots a routine grounder, the bases were loaded and Shack gave up a two-run hit. Then, in the run-down between third and home, Shack was called for interfering with the runner.
Sometimes, just nothing goes your way.
Well, that was ugly… 😛
Apparently he had only one good week’s worth of play in him! I’m glad to find out out now, personally.
8-6 Pirates. Gah.
Finally, the top of the seventh is over!
I’m listening to the Pittsburgh announcers. They think Moeller should be the one to get the error. They think he made a bad throw, and that’s what really went wrong on that play.
Castro with a 2-run homer to tie it at 8-8. Yippee!
Gil with the stand-up double down the 3rd base line. Nice!
It’s beautiful outside, so I can’t let this opportunity to play in the yard with my kid go by. I’ll be darting in and out for the rest of the game.
Reds lead it 9-8 thanks to Norris Hopper. Love those late-inning Pirates’ pitchers.
Now Votto at the plate.
And Votto just misses a home run. A looooong out.
Inning over, but the Reds re-took the lead.
Votto’s definitely going to be something, and pretty soon.
“And this one belongs to the Reds!” Reds win it 8-9.
Well, that was a rather adventurous game, but it ended well.
Four errors though…yech.
