Does LaRussa Realize…?
That without Mark McGwire, and then Albert Pujols, no one would think he was all that? Dave Duncan is the real managing might on this team. I’d like to see what he could do with the Reds pitching staff.

Jon Jay has two first names. And they’re both three letters long. And they bot start with J.
And that jerk just got a ground-rule double. Bah.
THANK YOU, Cueto for walking that Pujols character. Though, frankly, I’d rather see you hit him and save the pitch count.
I can tell I’m going to enjoy this game already. Cards score two in the bottom of the third.
Votto is much prettier than Pujols. Doesn’t take much to accomplish that, I realize, but true nevertheless.
Ugh. Votto looks sad in the dugout after getting caught in a rundown between 2nd and 3rd, but that was all on third base coach Mark Berry. He was waving Brandon Phillips home, and Votto, with his back to the play, was trusting Berry.
Oh, I’m so sad for Votto. He looked so disappointed about being run down.
Dude, look and Brad Penny’s socks. Those are ugly as ass.
Votto didn’t get thrown out on that one! Jay Bruce drives in Joey to tie the game.
Well, LaRussa did manage to have a winning record with the White Sox without McGwire or Pujols. But, he did have Duncan there with him for the last 3 1/2 seasons he was with the Sox. So, maybe it’s just Duncan that is the magic.
And Gomes drives in Bruce to take their first lead. Now let the rains come before the Reds have to pitch more!
Cabrera just basically walked to third. Does that count as a steal or defensive indifference? I can never tell the difference.
It was counted as a steal.
Given the fact that the infielders made no move to keep the runner on base or get him out, I wonder why. That wouldn’t be credited as a steal in the 9th inning of a blowout. Just one of those quirks of baseball I’ve never understood. A steal is a steal, in my book, regardless of whether the defense cares or not. The runner can’t know their intentions.
Well, now it’s rain delay time, after the TV broadcast booth almost was hit by lightning. Hopefully, the Reds bullpen can hold on once the game resumes.
The fact that it would be a blowout might have something to do with it. And reading the rule doesn’t make it any clearer.
Or better yet, hopefully the Cardinal bullpen implodes.
