Labor Day Baseball

Welcome baseball fans. You're reading the holiday ramblings of a woman too lazy to haul her ass out to Victory Field to see the Bats' last game of the season against the Indians. Hey, this is the day for the workers, and that's me. I've got to take a break from sitting in front of a computer at work to sit in front of a computer at home while the Reds play.
Lovin' this game so far, by the way. Reds up by two in the bottom of the first. Brandon Phillips in posession of 26 steals to go with his 26 homers. And Josh Hamilton was totally under the tag. Great friggin' day.
Go Reds!
Bah. I hate it when the opponent scores.
Thom’s doing the broadcast with Chris today, and I noticed that he, like George, called the program “The Best Sports Show Period,” omitting the “Damn.” I wonder whether they’ve stopped bothering to put it into the script or whether it’s not George’s policy not to say “damn.”
Congrats to Aaron Harang, becoming today Pedro Martinez’s 3000th career strikeout victim.
Doubt bah. I hate it when the opponent takes the lead.
Come on fellas, find a way to win.
All right, Dunn scores, thanks to an error by Beltran. Hey, those count too.
If you had hauled your butt to the last Bats game of the season, you would have seen The Lizard give up a home run to the pitcher.
But the Bats are playing very well. Even though Bruce and Votto are both out of the lineup.
Still sounds better than this Reds game. I got pulled away and came by to see the lead greatly expanded. What the hell is up with this team?
I think they left Harang in too long. Not that I blame them, given our bullpen, but still…
Yesterday, something similar happened with the Yankees. They put Pettitte back in when he was over 100 pitches. The fans were yelling, “No, Joe! Remember Grady Little!” To no avail. Pettitte ended up giving up a 3-run homer to Carlos Pena. The guy the Yanks threw away last year.
The hazards of having a sucky bullpen…
Gonzalez on third, Phillips on first, and Dunn at the plate. I haven’t looked at the line-up properly, as I’ve been paying only half my attention to the game while I try to get through the last Harry Potter book, but that implies to me a strange-ish line-up.
Dunn’s out, making the point moot.
I thought it was a pretty good lineup.

There have been some changes made since then, of course. The only one what was weird was when they pinch-hit Ellison.
I suppose some would object to A-Gon in the two-hole, but he’s been en fuego since getting off the bereavement list. And he’s 2 for 4 today.
I don’t like Hamilton leading off, and I’m not sure about Gonzalez in the two-hole. Hatteberg batting seventh seems pretty strange as well.
Not that I think it would have made enough of a difference to win the game. Geesh, I remember before this game sucked!
The Bats’ last game is over (Bats won, 8-2) so the Sept. callups were announced:
