   Hmmmm….Well, the last guy the Reds got named Burton has worked out decently enough…can Lavar hit lefthanded pitching? There would be endless opportunities for short TV promo spots based on scenes from various roles:

   Pete Mackanin: I called for a steal! Didn’t you see the signs?
   Burton: I’ll see you next time.

   Burton as Kunta Kinte: What’s snow, Fiddler?
   Billy Hatcher as Fiddler: Never you mind, boy, never you mind. Let’s get on back to the dugout. I got enough trouble teaching you the difference between a forkball and a split-finger. ‘Course there ain’t all that much difference when you gets right down to it.

   Griffey (as Omoro, Kunta’s father, holding his infant son up to starry sky): Kunta Kinte, behold the only thing greater than yourself!
   Burton: Well, father, there’s also Ken Griffey Jr. to consider.

   Brook Jacoby as Captain Picard: I want you to run a full Level One diagnostic as soon as possible.
   Burton (as LaForge): That’s going to take a lot of time.
   Jacoby (as Picard): And you learning to hit to the opposite field hasn’t?

   All kidding aside, Burton played one of my favorite characters on ST:TNG, and if anyone doubts his acting abilities, [i]you[/i] try wearing that VISOR and see if you can still produce appropriate facial expressions to go along with your lines and the general plot of the episode with your eyes hidden all the time. That ability of his was very impressive to me.
