Reds Trade for Jim Edmonds

From CentreDaily.com, the first place that popped on Google with the story, though I’m sure it’s all over the place by now:
CINCINNATI — The NL Central-leading Cincinnati Reds got Jim Edmonds from the Milwaukee Brewers for Chris Dickerson on Monday, strengthening their outfield for a playoff run.
Let’s go to the quick hits:
- That’s right folks! Now that the Reds are finally fielding an outfielder over the age of FORTY, they are playoff ready.
- Having run out of currently good ex-Cardinals to sign, Walt Jocketty turns to those who were awesome in the 90s in his effort to Cardinal-ify the Cincinnati clubhouse. Next up: Mark McGwire.
- This just in: George Grande to come out of retirement.

Former Cardinals now with the Reds (5) – Russ Springer, Miguel Cairo, Jim Edmonds, Scott Rolen, Jason Isringhausen.
Former Reds now with the Cardinals (6) – Dennys Reyes, Ryan Franklin, Kyle Lohse, Jason LaRue, Aaron Miles, Felipe Lopez.
I admit, Amanda, it’s going to be REAL tough getting used to the idea of rooting FOR Jim Edmonds. But…
Dickerson’s career BA against lefty pitchers: .238
Edmonds’ career BA against southpaws: .252
Edmonds this year: .286, 21 doubles, 8 HR, 126 OPS+
Dickerson this year: .205, 1 double, 0 HR, 31 OPS+
Next year Dickerson, when he’s not on the DL, will be the fourth OF in Milwaukee behind Ryan Braun, Lorenzo Cain, and Corey Hart. The Brewers will suck. The Reds, who still have three promising outfielders in Stubbs, Bruce, and Heisey who are all younger than Dickerson, will duke it out in the NLC with the Cardinals again. The only question is which of them will be defending a division title. Edmonds hit a pinch homer off Arroyo in the eighth inning to beat the Reds in a game on their last visit to Milwaukee, he can still swing it. The Reds have a better shot with Edmonds than with Dickerson trying to find his sea legs as a hitter in the middle of a pennant race, before probably winding up on the DL again in a week or two.

If you compare Jim Edmonds to Chris Dickerson again, HMZ, I will ban you for life.
This is not about Dickerson. No one here is complaining about him being traded. That made all the sense in the world.
This is everything about Edmonds. If you want to compare him to someone, compare him to Heisey, whom he’ll now be blocking most of the time, if I know Dusty Baker.
OK, if that’s the way you want to be, fine. I’m done here, you can go ahead and ban me for life right now. I have hereby posted my last words to this blog.
