It’d be nice to see that guy start hitting more. He’s been The Latin Close but no Cigar Machine for most of the year, but maybe this will turn him into 2005 Javy.
I’ve been at that point for two years, Geki. Seriously. Check the stats for the last couple of years – the pitchers’ ERAs are significantly higher with laRue behind the plate than they are with somebody else back there.
It says something when one of your best starters (Arroyo) throws to him once in ST and wants nothing to do with the guy thereafter.
The Yankees might have to put Posada on the DL, and I don’t think they’re going to be content running ex-Reds backup Kelly Stinnett out there ever day until Posada comes back. I’m hoping Kriv-Dawg can swing a deal that puts LaRue in pinstripes. I don’t even care what they get in return. A bag of used baseballs and an autographed picture of Thurman Munson will do.

Maybe some consistent playing time will turn him into 2005 Javy. Step 1: reduce number of catchers to 2.
I’m almost at the point where LaRue’s the one I’d prefer to dump.
