All-Star Alternate Dimension

According to the official site, the All-Star Ballot is now available. Also according to this story, Dunn has never been to the All-Star game.
Help me out here. Did I hallucinate 2002?

I emailed Mark Shelton and he told me he fixed it and apologized. I thought I had lost my mind because I clearly remembered the game, or so I thought.

You might have been hallucinating in 2002 for all I know, but charge an error to Shelton anyway. Adam Dunn was an NL all-star in 2002.
I’ll tell you this much: I didn’t vote for Dunn and I did vote for Pujols. Fair is fair and the best deserve to be there. Dunn’s defense is atrocious so far. The Reds I voted for were Lopez, Freel, and Kearns. I voted for Ensberg over Encarnacion and I thought about writing in Brandon Phillips, but that would nullify my vote for Freel so I stuck with Freel at 2B. I know some fans vote all Reds, or all Cardinals or whatever, but I try to pick the best players overall. Encarnacion will probably get my vote soon enough, he is looking better every day.
Daedalus — Thanks for taking the initiative there. I know Sheldon is the new guy and not a Reds’ fan, so I can understand a few gaffes, but that’s a pretty big one. I mean, how could Dunn not have been an All-Star by now? Gotta check those facts.
Also, it’s still wrong in the subhead of the story.
John — I may well have been hallucinating in 2002, but not for the fun reasons you’re thinking. My kid still wasn’t sleeping through the night then, so I was pretty severely sleep-deprived.
Of course, I’m still severely sleep-deprived, but that’s my own damn fault.
Aaron — I dunno, man. Does anyone ever actually define “All-Star” as meaning “best”? I could mean “most famous,” “my personal favorite,” or “most closly resembling the shape of a star.”
Besides, the idea of voting for Pujols for anything other than “Biggest Pain in My Ass” gives me a case of the screaming heebie-jeebies.
Well, the pace is Pujols is setting right now is pretty insane…. and since D Lee is disabled, he seems like the best choice to represent the NL at that position. I certainly could not recommend Hatteberg or Casey over him, for instance. Maybe I should have written in Aurilia.
As for Dunner, I shudder to think about the possibility of him embarrassing himself on national TV… his opening day shenanigans were bad enough… I could seriously envision a couple of Ks and a misplayed ball or two in left field… not the stuff that wins you any kind of credibility. When his defense significantly improves or he is moved to 1B and does adequately over there he will get my vote.
